Skinners Academy, Manor House, London

Groundworks, Basement Construction, RC Frame and External Works for the Skinners Academy

Toureen Mangan have now completed the main works at the Skinners Academy, a new secondary school in North London.

The groundworks included:

• the construction of a 5m battered green wall fronting onto the New river

• CFA Piling

• the construction of a 3m deep basement

• installation of rainwater harvesting tanks, attenuation tanks and foul pumping chambers to depths of up to 4m, and

• all substructure drainage

The RC frame included construction of a 3 storey in-situ reinforced concrete frame, construction of 1.5m deep down-standing transfer beams to compensate for a 12m span at a 2 storey height and 11m tall circular columns
